I began my first weight training program in 1994 while attending college. Having never been an athlete I found I enjoyed the discipline of my new routine. Setting and achieving fitness goals brought me a profound sense of personal accomplishment and control.
In 1996, while preparing for my first bodybuilding competition, I began a high-protein diet and aerobic training. The intensity of the cardio training prompted me to quit smoking, ending a 10 year habit. Furthermore, the process of getting into competition shape taught me how to manipulate the various components of fitness to create synergistic effects.
Since then I've moved all over the world with my husband Jason, a pilot in the US Air Force. We've lived in Amherst MA, Pensacola FL, Corpus Christi TX, Tucson AZ, overseas in India, Charleston SC, and are currently in Monterey CA. Through all the moves I've found unique ways to ply my trade, ranging from learning yoga and mediation in India to running a hardcore boot camp for military members on the beaches of Monterey.
Sharing my concepts of a healthy lifestyle and assisting others to achieve their fitness goals is truly my life's passion. Between group fitness classes, boot camps, and personal training clients I've been fortunate enough to encourage hundreds of friends on their personal fitness journeys over the last 15 years.
In 2009 I earned my bodybuilding pro card in the International Fitness and Physique Association (IFPA) all-natural bodybuilding organization with a win at an amateur competition in Arizona. A few months later I completed a grueling 10 mile road race (I am not a runner, so this was a major triumph for me).
The essence of what I've learned about fitness rests on balance and synergy. A detailed focus on diet, cardio and resistance training yields amazing results that go far beyond the sum of their individual parts. Interestingly, this type of diet and training need not be especially restrictive, intense, nor time consuming. Instead, a simple balance of these three components combined with consistancy can form a strong foundation for a lifetime of fitness. Let me help you dial in your diet and workouts and strike your own personal balance! I look forward to sharing what I've learned with you.
Yours in sweat,
Lisa
